A Surprising Day

Well, the most surprising and wonderful thing happened today. My boss called and said that I didn't need to come in today. So...I had a day off. I decided that whiles yes, I will do a few loads of laundry and a few other chores that need to be done, that I was going to scrapbook for a few hours while binge watching Arrested Development on Netflix.  Oh, it was wonderful!
The first layout I completed is of my sweet niece Bethany.  We lovingly call her the "Lap Ninja" because she can sneak up on anyone, crawl into their lap with hardly a hint.  We will be watching a movie & poof there she is! She is our little cuddle bug. For the layout I used Fabulous Girl by Recollections plus a couple brads from MME. Pretty quick layout actually.
The second layout is part of a 2 pager. My silly girl wore these vanity glasses all day on our adventure to the ghost town in Bodie, CA. She had fun hamming it up and playing the model.  For the most part she just posed for a picture and would say "Here take this one." The simplest photo session ever! LOL
If you ever get the chance to go to Bodie.. take it! It is a photographer's dream!
I used paper from Heidi Swapp, the brads are MME & the letters are Thickers.
The last layout is from the same Bodie adventure. Trying to get all five of these sillies to cooperate can be tricky but I think we got a pretty good one.  The one on the left is the best of the group and the one on the right is the worst! LOL
Patterned paper is from Heidi Swapp, brads & buttons by MME.
I am really making these paper pads work! Love getting this many layout from them. So thankful for my job but I gotta say, today has been a lovely day and thank goodness for PTO.  So basically, I am getting paid to scrap!

Two more layouts

I go through creative phases, I suppose everyone does. Sometimes I hardly glance at my scrapbook desk or I just shake my head at the little mess and pile of papers that has somehow magically amassed. Sometimes these non scrapbook phases can be filled with creative endeavors spent in other mediums, like house decorating or working on furniture. Creating beautiful aspects in our little nest. I have periods of time where I just collect ideas. Look through magazines, peruse pinterest etc. mentally gathering little bits to utilize at a later date.  So basically, even when I am not creating...I am gearing up for it. LOL
I am still working on using my stash and I rediscovered this paper pad from Me & My Big Ideas. The bright colors reflected the energy and fun of the pictures.
I also used several brads from MME, MS butterfly punch as well as other assorted goodies.
This layout went together super quick. I used 2 pieces of pp from Heidi Swapp as well as stickers simple stories.
Side note: The gears that I used were from an Advanced Readers copy of a book that will be due out in several months. (The Mark of the Dragonfly available 3/25/2014)  The marketing that the publishers used was brilliant and I am loving the book so far.  One of the perks of running the Children's dept at a book store!
Just a another close up.
Have a wonderful week!

Happy New Year!

Well hello there! Yep, it's been awhile. Thankfully I am back and ready to scrap!  I am going to try to post at least once a week. Let's see what actually happens.
I made myself carve out a little time the other day to sit down and create. I love these picks of my adorable niece. She is always making silly faces for the camera and it can be tricky to get a decent shot of the little rascal. I love the way these turned out. Still on my kraft paper kick plus  I added a few pops of color here and there.
I simply adore this Martha Stewart butterfly punch. I use it all the time! For the butterflies I punched the shapes out of a sticker sheet  then I added the brads (Recollections). The "Some Kind of Wonderful" phrase I cut out of a piece of 12 by 12 from a Recollections paper pack.
These pictures are from last Christmas. The paper is from Heidi Swapp, the brads are MME, washi tape from Recollections and the reindeer it is from Meri Meri .
 Here is a close up....

Have a wonderful weekend and may you always find time to create!
