well, hello there

This new work schedule is going to take a little getting used to! I was able to get a little scrapping in last night. Well, actually I started the lo last night & finished up today. I created the background last night and today I added the pics, the title & the journaling. Most of the pp is Jenni Bowlin but the shaped paper is Fancy Pants. The title is a rub on and the border stickers are Recollections (they were 40% off at M's) I also made the rosette & added the epoxy mouse ears sticker. I am starting to get the hang of these rosettes & I love them! I made several for a star toss that I was in. I mailed them off today & I pray that they travel well. One of the best things about my job is the fact that I get Advanced Reader's Copies. I just finished a couple titles that are sure to be huge. The first one is due out April 5th & the first of a trilogy. The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens is the story of three children that are in for the adventure of a lifetime. I will not be surprised if they make a movie based on the book. It is a lively read & I found myself staying up way to late for a few nights trying to see what was in store for the three wary adventurers. Their is plenty of action for reluctant readers & it will keep you on your toes with the twists & turns. So, to sum it up....three orphans, one wizard, an evil witch, dwarfs & time traveling....need I say more.

The next book that I read was Divergent by Veronica Roth. This is also the beginning of a series & after visiting the author's blog I found out that it will be made into a movie. It will be in bookstores May 11. The story surrounds the life of young Beatrice in a dystopian society where at 16 the choice you make will define your beliefs, question your loyalties & transform you. This young adult novel will get ya thinking long after you turn the last page.

changes

Well, we are always in a state of flux right? Due to the fact that we are going to be building a new house, I really need to work full time. Thankfully the timing is amazing and God has got a plan. I am up for a promotion at work to run the Children's Dept at Barnes & Noble. It will be full time & it will cut into my scrapping and free time but....I will be able to put some of my education to work. I have a degree in Liberal Studies (at one time I wanted to be a teacher) after working at B&N I discovered that my true love was Children's & teen literature. Now I am in the position to step in full time. It will be a big change for our little family but the timing has been amazing & we see God's hand in all of this. Such a huge blessing.
I was able to scrap a little the other day though:

We Are Nuts about: Chip & Dale

had fun with this lo. Used pp from the DCWV stack "songbird".

I cut the tree, bird & clouds out of the pp paper .

I inked the clouds & leaf patch in the center of the tree.

Used pop dots to give a little dimension.

I have been really trying to use my stash... I may have to be a little more creative but the results are always so rewarding!

a new adventure

Here's the site of our new home. We have had this land for several years but we are finally going to take the plunge & build! It is scary & exciting at the same time! Right now we have picked out the plans that we want to use but we still have a little tweaking to do. We are taking things one step at a time & right now we are awaiting word form the city to see if we can cut those two oaks down. They just recently passed an oak ordinance & we are the first people lucky enough to have the process go through a committee. Ugh! Any ways, I do pray that they ok the permit because those trees are smack dab where our driveway & garage are going to be! As you can see from the pic, the tree that is closest to the road is growing up through the phone lines so we are going to have a professional take care of that one. For the second we are hoping that my dad will be able to cut it down.
we truly have an adventure ahead of us! I will keep everyone posted on our progress. Till then if ya have any advice & have gone through this before...comments are always welcome!

new toy

For my b-day. my scrappy friends gave me a gift card to Michael's & I have been holding onto it since January. The other day, with 50% coupon in hand, I purchased the Martha Stewart Scoring board. I have been having fun making rosettes & went a little crazy with my last two Los.
Cruella De vil: played around with this one & tried to have fun. I have decided that I need to get a little more creative & just explore. Too many times my LOs start looking the same! With the Cruella De vil Lo I used DCWV pp, the glitter letters are Making Memories. The long strip at the bottom was a failed rosette that I hadn't made long enough to connect so I just used it as an extra accent.
Princess:
For the Princess Lo I went uber girly. I used rub ons on the picture to give it a more playful feel. The pp is from MME & Fancy Pants, the cs is Bazzill & the rub ons & jewels are Imaginesce.
Can you spot the hidden Mickeys?

March allready?

Can't believe that it is already March! Wow! Still working on Disney LOs, I have many more to complete. Oh Ellie

went traditional Disney with this LO. Sweet Elie is a ball of energy & I was able to get some fun shots of her on Tom Sawyer's Island. We had to really keep an eye on her because she kept trying to take off to explore on her own.

Supplies: Cardstock: Colorbok; PP: DCWV & Sandylion; glittery letters : MM; Minnie Mouse: Jolees. Basically I took my inspiration from the Minnie dress that Ellie was wearing. I do wish that I would have gotten a shot of her shoes though, they were darling!

Aloha Donald, Hang Ten

For this LO I played around with beach elements to reflect Donald's surfing garb.
Supplies: PP: DCWV; journaling tag; De ja View; cb shapes; Heidi Grace; letters : SEI ( I outlined the letters with black to help them stand out a little more); flowers range from Prima, MM to Oriental Trading.

On another note: One of my cyber friends, Carol, was kind enough to award my blog a Stylish Blogger award. Over the course of the week I plan on repaying that kindness to 3 other fabulous bloggers, so stay tuned!
